ein skandinavisch-deutsches Kunstprojekt am Rande des Baruther Urstromtals

Ausgangspunkt der künstlerischen Auseinandersetzung ist das Baruther Urstromtal, das vor ca. 25.000 Jahren während der Weichsel-Eiszeit durch die Gletschermassen aus Skandinavien in den Grund und Boden der Landschaft getrieben wurde. Heute ist die Region als ein Teil des Hohen Flämings im Land Brandenburg etabliert. Charakteristisch für die abbildenden Oberflächen der Landschaft sind neben Geröllhaufen, den sogenannten Endmoränen und den Urstromtälern, die platzierten FINDLINGE, auch ERRATIKER geheißen, geschliffene Steinbrocken, die vereinzelt in der Landschaft das im Wesen Fremde verströmen ohne je einen Laut von sich zu geben, ohne je die Geheimnisse ihrer Herkunft den seit wenigen tausend Jahren anwesenden Kulturschaffenden zu erzählen.
In der Auseinandersetzung mit der direkten prägenden Umgebung finden die am Projekt beteiligten Künstlerinnen und Künstler ihre Inspirationen und Motive, die sie in visuelle, auditive, phänomenologische und kulturelle Versuchsfelder übertragen.
Eingeladen sind vier Gastkünstler aus Skandinavien (Schweden / Norwegen / Dänemark). Gleich den Findlingen finden sich die Gäste aus dem hohen Norden als „platzierte“ Solitäre in der Brandenburgischen Landschaft wieder. Welche Erkenntnisse bringen sie mit? Mit ebenfalls vier Künstlerinnen und Künstler die vorwiegend in ländlichen Regionen des Landes Brandenburg leben, formen sie jeweils ein „Duett der Kulturen“, das zum Ort der Zwiegespräche am Rande des Baruther Urstromtals einlädt.
Gemeinsam werden sie in einem inszenierten künstlerischen Dialog die Untiefen der Eiszeit und die Entstehung und Eigenarten des kulturellen Umfelds erforschen und in einem gemeinsamen Statement auf die Ebene gegenwärtiger Prozesse transponieren. Ausgetragen werden die Zwiegespräche im Inneren und der Umgebung eines Metallcontainers – in einem wie in den Boden Brandenburgs geworfenen Meteoriten –, der gleich einem Baukörper in Kubikmeter gemessen und in abstrakter Form gestaltet, den Geheimnissen der FINDLINGE verwandt scheint.
Vier Wochen lang wird der RAUM-Körper an einem Standpunkt am Rande des Baruther Urstromtals in der näheren Umgebung des Dorfes Baitz platziert, an welchem er als erratischer, technischer Findling und Fremdling erscheint und seine eigenwillige, künstlerische Schwerkraft entfaltet. Der Ausstellungsort liegt an einer Erhebung mit Panoramablick auf das Naturschutzgebiet der Belziger Landschaftswiesen am Radweg R1 etwa 1km außerhalb des Dorfes Baitz in der Nähe von Bad Belzig.
Das Projekt findet an vier Wochenenden statt, an denen jeweils zwei Künstlerinnen vor Ort ihre Arbeiten präsentieren werden.

Das Dorf Baitz ist mit der Regionalbahn RE7 von Berlin in Richtung Bad Belzig in ca. 1 Stunde erreichbar. Fußweg zu Kunstpflug 15 Min.
Baitz liegt am Radweg R1.
Mit dem Auto ist Baitz über die A9, Abfahrt Brück, B246 bis Neschholz, Kreisstraße bis Baitz zu erreichen. Anfahrt aus Berlin ca. 1 Stunde.

erratic: unpredictable, scattered, wandering
glacial erratic: a piece of rock that differs from the size and type of rock native to the area in which it rests. „Erratics“ take their name from the Latin word errare, and are carried by glacial ice, often over distances of hundreds of kilometers. (Wikipedia)
The area of the Belziger Landschaftswiesen is located in the region of Hoher Fläming in Land Brandenburg, about 70km south of Berlin. It is part of the glacial valley of Baruth. Today the area is established as a nature reserve for rare birds, fauna and flora. Visitors can explore the region on hiking paths and the well-kept European bicycle road R1.
The broad landscape was formed about 25.000 years ago during the last two glacial periods. The glacier streams drove masses of ice and rocks from Scandinavia and carved the landscape into its final look. The stone masses created a huge flat glacial valley with slightly elevated moraines on its sides. Some huge erratic boulders –wandering testimonies of this gigantic process- still can be found today lying scattered in the fields. Mysteriously, displaced and far away from their geological origins these solitaires covet their secrets in regards to human culture and cultivation
This scenery is the location for the art project ERRATIKER and at the same time the field of artistic dispute. 4 Scandinavian and 4 German artists are invited to participate in the project. Inspired by the special features of the region they will interpret it as a field for artistic and experimental research.
4 Scandinavian artists, comparable to modern, erratic boulders, are traveling down to us from the high north. What knowledge will they bring? Together with 4 artists from Germany they will form an artistic dialog using their auditory, phenomenological and visual methods of expression. They will interpret the themes of nature and human impact, of origin and displacement, of commonness and difference on a more general level of actual global processes.
These artistic dialogs or „duets of cultures“ will take place in and around a big metal container that will be placed on the edge of the Baruth glacial valley with a spectacular view into the spacious landscape. It has the size of 640cmx302cmx282cm.
With its technical and abstract look -white from outside and dark inside- the container appears like an erratic rock itself creating its own gravity. Almost like a meteorite that was randomly thrown into the landscape – the container will become a stranger carrying a different kind of secret.
The art project ERRATIKER will take place in a row of 4 separate exibitions with respectively two artists from Scandinavia and from Germany.

How to get there:
The village of Baitz is located about 70 km South West from Berlin. It has ist own train station. It can be reached within one hour by regional train RE7 from Berlin in direction of Bad Belzig. 15 Minutes walk to Kunstpflug e.V.
Baitz is located along the bicycle road R1.
By car you take highway A9, exit Brück, the take road B246 to Neschholz, from there a small road leads to Baitz. Travel time about one hour.
